Boys & Girls Club Park

A Legacy Gift That Will Shape Our Future

Thanks to the generosity of The Lutheran Foundation, we have been gifted 11 acres of land, which once the site of Lutheran Hospital on Fairfield Avenue.

For years, the Foundation received offers to buy the property, but concerns about how the land would be developed kept them from moving forward. After attempts to donate the land to the city, a chance meeting between our President & CEO, Joe Jordan, and The Lutheran Foundation’s President & CEO, Mark Dixon, sparked a new vision.

Mark shared, “It happened that Joe came down the street to meet with me at my office one day, and only then did it occur to me what a profound impact the Boys & Girls Club had on my life as a young boy growing up in southern Indiana. We’re delighted this park will serve this organization, and our prayers are it will have a positive impact on numerous children for years to come.”

Joe responded with heartfelt gratitude: “Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude for this extraordinary gift of land. This donation is not just a gift to us. It’s a lasting legacy that will benefit the Boys & Girls Club and our community for generations. We are humbled and honored to carry this land forward with purpose and pride.”

This gift is more than land. It’s a promise to continue growing a brighter future for the youth of Fort Wayne.
