The annual Smart Girls/Brilliant Women luncheon event will be held on Thursday November 1, 2018 at the Grand Wayne Convention Center. The event, which drew 625 attendees last year is anticipated to reach 800.
The event fundraiser supports the year long program which involves hundreds of young women each year who learn about health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program for girls. The program focuses on healthy lifestyles including exercise, healthy choices and building self-esteem.
Education and academic performance are also critical to the program targeted to young women who live at or below the poverty line and are especially vulnerable to bad choices that continue the poverty cycle. The luncheon event itself marks the accomplishment of these young women, honors top nominees and designates a “Smart Girl of the Year”
More importantly, it demonstrates all year long how these young women can improve their lives. Every dollar helps fund the program and change the lives of those who need us most.
